Our story

The Quest Difference

Quest began in the 1980s, guiding expeditions on remote rivers in Central America. Today it's owned by a husband-and-wife team of longtime Quest river guides, who bought the company they used to work for.

We still run every trip the way we learned on the water, with real care, great guides and a lot of fun.

Safety

Safety comes first, every trip

First Aid & CPR

Every Quest guide is trained in First Aid and CPR.

Advanced certifications

A higher-than-average share of our guides are WFR, Advanced WFR or Paramedics.

Trained & vetted

Guides train extensively and pass a strict vetting process before leading guests.

Before you paddle, your guide leads a safety orientation and explains what to expect on the water.

A day worth sharing

Meet your guide at the Outpost and ride out to the river. Between the rapids there's time to swim in calm spots, take photos and enjoy the gorge.

Before you go

A few things before you paddle

Plan your time, pack the essentials and arrive ready for the river.

Minimum age
Rafters must be at least 12 years old, and every participant signs a waiver before the trip.
Experience
No experience is needed for the Middle Ocoee. Your guide teaches paddle commands on shore and steers the raft. For the Upper and Full Ocoee, some prior whitewater rafting is a plus.
Middle Ocoee timing
Plan on about half a day from check-in at the Outpost to the bus ride back. Trips run on dam release days, so check the calendar when you book.
What to bring
  • Shoes that strap on and can get wet (no flip-flops)
  • Swimsuit or quick-dry clothes, and a layer for cool days
  • Sunscreen and a towel
  • Dry clothes for the ride home
